THE RED CROSS
A statement has appeared to the effect that the New Zealand Red Cross Society is not a part of the International Red Cross. This is not true. The New Zealand Red Cross Society is the National Red Cross Society of New Zealand disincorporated in New Zealand. The New Zealand Red Cross Society being the National Society for New Zealand is a member of tke League of Red Cross Societies. The New Zealand Government has honoured the Geneva Convention which provides for an international committee in Geneva. The International Red Cross comprises representatives from both the League of Red Cross Societies end the international committee. It will thus be seen that the New Zealand Red Cross Society is part of the International Red Cross, and as such has been playing its part in times of peace and war by providing funds for the League of Red Cross Societies and the international committee to carry on their work. The international committee duly recognises the New Zealand Red Cross Society, with whom it is in constant communication. A RED CROSS MEMBER.
