CONTEST ANNOUNCEMENT
You have another week, boys and girls, to enter for the competition on favourite books and authors. As we are not able to announce the results next week in any case, we thought we'd give you the extra week so that those who have not sent in entries may have a chance of winning one of the half-crown prizes.
All you have to do is to write a short paragraph — between 100 and 200 words is the best length — naming your favourite book or author and giving the reasons for your choice. There are few boys and girls who do not like to read, and it will be interesting to compare notes with each other in this way and perhaps hear of books new to you.
As those of us who enjoy books know, a great deal of fun as well as education is missed by people who do not read. So tell us what you like best to read by a winter fire or curled up in a tree in the summer. There will be three halfcrown prizes for the best entries, one for boys of 12 and over, one for girls of 12 and over, and one for boys and girls under 12.
Write on orie side of the paper only, state your name, age and address, and post to reach this office by Saturday, October 17.
