NIZAM'S DASHING SPRINT

An impressive gallop by Centrepoise and Landveyor, two Mitchelson Cup candidates. was one of the features of the final gallops at Ellerslie this morning, when the pair worked over a round on the course proper in 2.7 4-5. Mansura, another Mitchelson Cup horse, began with them, but soon tailed off and finished 4s behind. Centrepoise and Landveyor kept together all the 'way, and Landveyor, which carried the lighter weight, just shaded his companion at the end. it was a first-rate trial, the gallop being clone on the course proper, with the poles 40ft out. The pair ran the last seven furlongs ill 1.32 2-5 and the final halfmile in f>2 2-ss. W. Hooton was on Landveyor and A. Jenkins on Centrepoise.

Fox.sen, also in the Cup, worked over a mile with Lady Ex, running the distance in 1.44, the last seven in 1.31 2-5. Foxsen was going along nicely at the end. The Guineas candidate Nizam returned the best figures for six furlongs, recording 1.18, after running the first three in 38 1-os. This colt has improved considerably since the Avondale meeting. That good filly, Cherry's Ticket, set the main for five furlongs, finishing clear of British Mint, and running the distance in 1.3 1-5. She went fast early, covering the first two in 24 1-os, and came home very resolutely. The improved Belle Renarde left half a mile behind in 40 2-ss, the best of the morning over the distance, and she did her gallop impressively. Kraal also showed a lot of speed while covering the same ground in 49 3-ss, Bronzo holding Lord Defoe in 49 4-ss. Transmitter reeled oft" three furlongs in 36 3-5s and had nothing in reserve, being hunted out. Five furlongs: Victory Lass and Corot. 1.4 3-5; Phaleron, Indian Sign and Majority finished as named in 1.4; Camilla beat Lyallii, 1.5; Vaalsmoss and Marble Fox, 1.5; Aero King, 1.8 4-5; Koyce, 1.8 4-5; Balashiel beat lorbay, 1.7 3-5.

Six furlongs: Lady Reynard and Volifox, 1.10 2-5; Veritable, 1.23 1-5; British Talent, 1.20 2-5 (Wee Pay assisting last five, 1.6 1-5).

After breakfast, when the track was faster, Transcend slipped over half a mile in 48 3-ss, the first furlong in 12 l-ss. Over the same ground. Play Girl took 53 3-os. Sir Reynard ran live furlongs in 1.4, similar time being recorded by Odlaa in beating Naini Tal. Gentry and Foxlore ran six furlongs in 1.20, as did also Statue, while Happicoat and Survoy finished clear of King's Cross in 1.21.

Te Ronga, Floodlight and Mia Acrea jumped the sodwall double and stonewall.
