NEWSPAPER PROPRIETORS X.Z. CENSORSHIP ISSUE (0.C.) WELLINGTON, this day. Support for the stand taken by the Newspaper Proprietors' Association with regard to censorship was given at a meeting convened by the Chamber of Commerce. Delegates of various organisations were asked to bring the matter before their bodies for such action as might be deemed necessary. The meeting appointed a committee to draft letters to the Prime Minister, Mr. Fraser, and the Newspaper Proprietors' Association expressing the feeling and decision of the meeting. Mr. A. M. Bisley, president of the chamber, who presided, said he objected strongly to the use of censorship powers for political purposes. The public had a democratic right to freedom of expression and criticism, so long as information of value to the enemy was not divulged.
