RAG DRIVE
COLLECTION FOB FORCES The results of the appeal for cleaning rags for the forces had been most satisfactory, said Mrs. A. K. North, a divisional commissioner of the Girl Guides' Association, yesterday. The drive had been made by the girl guides under an arrangement with the National Council for Reclamation of Waste Material. As the shortage of material grew more acute it was becoming increasingly difficult for people to contribute rags, and in giving what they had the generosity of members of the public was greatly appreciated.
Mrs. North added that, although the collection by girl guides ceased last Saturday, rags would be received until the end of this week at the headquarters of the Girl Guides' Association, Bank of New South Wales Building, 522, Queen Street, and at the waste depot, 55, Customs Street East. Old slippers, hats and suits were unsuitable, as the object of the drive was to obtain rags which the navy, army and air force required for special cleaning purposes.
