CANNOT PLAY

M.T.P. RUGBY TEAM

CARLAW PARK MATCH

Surprise was expressed this morning by Captain J, Todd, president of the M.T.P. Rugby Football Club, that advertisements were still appearing concerning a match next Saturday between tne M.T.P. team, winners of the 1942 Rugby Union Championship, and Richmond, winners of the 1942 Rugby League Knock-out Competition. He declared that the match had been definitely cancelled last Monday. "You can take it from me that the M.T.P. team cannot play," he said. Owing to unforseen circumstances ha had considered that it was not possible for his club team to take part in the match. For that reason he had communicated to the chairman of the Auckland Rugby League (Mr. Watson) last Monday the fact that the M.T.P. team would not bo available this Saturday. He had reiterated that decision on Tuesday last. For that reason he could not understand why the match was being advertised as on.
