Amazing Speed Of Production At Kaiser Yards TANK LANDING CRAFT Rec. 11.30 a.m. NEW YORK, Oct. 6. A message from Oakland, California, states that Henry Kaiser, the Californian shipbuilder, has announced the launching of the first 3500-ton "secret tank landing ship," which was prefabricated inland and. requires only half the quantity of steel used in Liberty ships. Mr. Kaiser stated: "They said that it could not be done, but we will be turning out two a week in our new yard." Mr. Kaiser, who is also constructing three experimental giant cargo flying ships in addition to the rapid building of Liberty ships, expects the new tank lender to be fitted out and ready for service in 30 clays.
