TRAINS TO WELLINGTON
(To the Editor.) The partial restoration of the Maj n Trunk service, including a 3 pjn. express to Wellington last Sunday instead of the 7.15 p.m. Limited] raises the question whether the Department could keep this as a permanent institution, each way. t should think that 90 per cent of "the passengers would prefer to arrive in Wellington at . a.m. on Mondays rather than at 9.30. even if a lower proportion would prefer the earlier departure. Conversely, the usual Saturday express departure at 3 pin. inconveniences everybody, and the awkward arrival on a Sunday morning at seven o'clock at each terminus, before the tram service is fully running, makes it still worse not only for the passengers, but also for their prospective hosts. In other words, the maximum convenience for departure and arrival could be given by running the Limited on Saturdays and the express on Sundays, instead of the opposite as hitherto. The Department invites'sttegestions from the public, and every year 1 become more convinced that these trains should be transposed. If this is done, it will not be the first adoption of a practical suggestion from me. VIATOR.
