Disaffection Reported Among

Soldiers

THOUSANDS IMPRISONED Rec. 10.30 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 5. A Stockholm . essage states that about 4000 German soldiers have been imprisoned for mutiny at Alta, In eastern Denmark. A court-martial cashiered and sentenced to death 17 officers and 43 soldiers. Many German soldiers havs allowed Russian prisoners to escape and some also are •reported to have fled to Russia. It was stated recently that 1000 German soldiers in the Folkviljan district were sent to a concentration camp in northern Norway because "they lacked the will to fight." The incorporation of Northern Slovenia into the German Reich as from October 1, states the British official wireless, and the introduction of conscription for all former Yugoslav subjects there for the German army and labour forces, is announced by the local German Gauleiter. The inhabitants have to learn the German language and are expected to denounce to the German authorities all acts of sabotage and underground activities. The penalties for non-fulfilment of duties to the Reich include expulsion from their homes and confiscation of property and, in grave cases, shooting.
