OBITUARY

GUNNER R. PILKINGTON The death has occurred of Gunner Reeves Pilkington, in Wellington. He was the only son of Mr. and Mrs. E. R. Pilkington, of Tamaki West. An old boy of Auckland Grammar School, Gunner Pilkington worked for W. D. and H. O. Wills (N.Z.), Ltd., serving at the Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington branches. He joined the army last May. Gunner Pilkington was a member of the Pakuranga Hunt Club and the Auckland Polo Club. He is survived by his wife and one son.

MRS. PARKER HILL

The death occurred on Saturday of Mrs. R. Parker Hill, of Papatoetoe, after a short illness. Mrs. Hill was one of Auckland's foremost croquet players, and in 1935 won the champion of champions at Auckland. She has been a member of the Whtiora (Hamilton), Papatoetoe and Remuera clubs. She was ever ready to impart her knowledge of the game to younger players. Mrs. Hill was also a member of Women's Institute and the English Speaking Union. Of a retiring disposition, she was known for her many deeds of charity, and help was always given without any publicity. Mrs. Hill is survived by her husband and two sons, Messrs. Noel and Parker Hill, and a daughter, Miss Avis Hill, of Papatoetoe.
