MEDICAL SCHOLARSHIP
PARNELL WOMAN'S WILT; Out of an estate valued at under £15.000 provision is made in the will of the late Miss Violet Winifred Souter, of Parnell, who died on September 5. for a sum providing an income of t'2oo annually to be used for a six years' scholarship tenable at the Otago University Medical School. This clause in the will is to take effect on the termination of a life interest and the satisfaction of other private bequests, and the sum of £200 is to be available for six years for the maintenance and education of a pupil of the Auckland, Mount Albert or Takapuna Grammar Schools at the medical school. A selection committee consisting of the Anglican Bishop of Auckland, president of the B.M.A. at Auckland and i manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company will decide the award and period of scholarship.
Other bequests include £1000 each to the Henry Brett Memorial Home Trust Board, and to the Church of England Home at Papatoetoe, as well as £500 each to St. Mary's Homes at Otahuhu. New Zealand Institute for the Blind. New Zealand Cancer Research Campaign and the vestry of St. Mary's Cathedral. Parnell. Sums of £200 each are left to the Door of Hope Association, the Auckland Plunket Society, Flying Angel Missions to Seamen, Dr. Barnardo's Homes (London). Church of England Central Fund. St. John Ambulance Association and to the Anglican Order of the Good Shepherd, and £100 to the Discharged Prisoners' Air Society. Should there lie any residue after the payment of these amounts it is to go to the central fund of the Anglican Diocese of Auckland.
