AMBULANCE ACTIVITY
HIGH PRESSURE OF WORK Over 12,000 miles have been covered by the St. John ambulances during the past month, and 2162 patients have been carried in ambulances. Blood transfusions have been given on 64 occasions. The association assists the public to obtain the services of doctors both during the day and night, and 160 visits have been m*le by the night medical staffs. The majority of cases dealt with are of a medical nature, but in September one hundred accidents were reported, 28 of which were serious. Yesterday one trip was made to Hawera, and another ambulance was sent to Thames to replace one which Is undergoing repairs. The staff were working exceptionally hard again tu-day.
