Bond, for his invaluable services during the I past three years, especially when he had now again proved his devotion to the club by undertaking the secretaryship. M.P.. on his first anpcarance sine© his long illness, and he replied with con- ; gratulations to the members on their obvious ■ interest in their club's welfare. , Mangere Retains Trophy I There was no contest for the Edwin Stars ! last Saturday, as the same was called off bv the , Grey Lynn holders during the heavy squalls in the morning. There will be only one more game I this season, if the comin* Saturday be fine, the j challenger being A. Hitchen (Stanley), but both . clubs are opening their summer season on the ! 10th. ! The last game of the season for the Jordan Pins resulted in an easy win for the holders'. 1 W. Hunt. C. Shaw. L. W. Bishop. C. T. Wadsworth (Mangere) 30. v. W. Booth. C. A. Doe I. A. Farnell. J. R. Collin (Onehunga). challengers. 14. Mangere scored 22 points before their opponents started., a feature being the outstanding play of Shaw, who Is only a recruit to the game. Wadsworth himself successfully saved on many occasions. The holders also made a good start in the 1 Hadwin Pins Kame. betnß 4 to 1 with three en 1s played, and helped by a six to be 12 to two on the seventh. 'I he visitors then scored on four ends in a row to be only two down on the lltn. I Equal success followed until a three put, them ahead for the first time on the 16th end. Visitors Score On First Four Ends Contrary to common experience, the challengers for the Diggers' Badges won the first lour ends and were not overtaken until the 17th end. The local team then made amends for their early failure, and won by a substantial margin: J. O'Keefe. J. J. Toy, L. Corby. E. J. Mitchell (Ellerslie), 24, v. P. Ornstlen. A. H. Davies. S. McMahon, R. Dawson (St. Heller's), challengers. The next skip to challenge is R. C. Caddy (Grey Lynn). • Mount Eden will retain the Denison Pins until next season, for the holders successfully resisted a strong challenge from Rocky Nook, and the.f club will open ihe summer season on Saturday without the usual full cercmony. The game was fairly well in hand all the way. the holders standing at. 19 to 11 at the tea. adjournment, afterwards playing carefully for the position. The visitors wanted five to win on the last end. but nearly every bowl was covered for safety, so they jot only one. the game ending: C. Taylor. C. J. Moon, E. C. Delamore. A. E.
