MARKET REOPENS FIRMLY

Firm values ruled when the Auckland Stock Exchange reopened to-day after the week-end and the holiday yesterday. Woollen shares were in keen demand at prices well above late business. E. S. and A. Banks sold at £3 14./, showing a gain of 1/0 on dealing at the beginning of the month. Australian securities revealed few changes, and the gilt-edged market was steady with a predominance of buyers.
