MILK SUPPLY
REPORT BY MkkLVSX LOW CONTENT OP SOMDS Various angles of the Auckland milk supply were discussed at a* meeting of the Metropolitan Ittilfci Council last evening. The chairman, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, presided. The analyst. Mr. L. S. Spaekman, in a report on milk tested during August, drew attention to the;, abnormally low average of 8:5 per* cent of solids, not fat, and said 3he : position was very serious. He added' that cows were getting a reasonable* amount of feed, but there was not the nutriment in the grass that'there- ■ should be and the position in s summer would be much worse. s
The council instructed its officers to draw up a report, and the services of outside experts if necessary.
For early delivery of miik by roundsmen in the summer months," the council fixed the hoors of delivery as from October T6 next* to April 15, from. 2 a.m. to 7f30 a ? in" for dwellings, and 1 8.30 a.m. for bwsi-S ness premises.
