LEAGUE MEDALS
CHAMPION-OF-CHAMPIOXS MATCH OX SATURDAY The awards of the J. F. Dickson medals for the past season were announced by the chairman, Mr. J. W. Watson, at the weekly meeting of the Auckland Rugby League Board of Control last evening. The senior medal went to O. Hughes, of the City Club, who was adjudged the most sportsmanlike player in the code for the season, while the junior medal was awarded to Arnold Jones, of the Glenora Club. Mr. Watson congratulated these players and said they had set a 1 standard for all players to aim at. The chairman stressed the need for men to play the game, for after all it was only a game.
The final arrangements were made for the big match at Carlaw Park next Saturday, when the champion club team, Manukau, will meet the winners of the Roope Rooster competition, Richmond, in the champion-of-champions match. A junior curtain-raiser was also arranged instead of the South Auckland v. Auckland Junior representative game, which liad to be abandoned owing [ to the failure of transport.
After the ordinary business the board entertained the junior board of management and the referees at a social gathering. Saturday's Games.—Champion of champions: Richmond v. Manukau. Carlaw Park No. 1, 3 p.m., J. Donovan. Curtain-raiser: Otahuhu v. Richmond, Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.45 p.m., A. Bow.
