HEAVY TRACK
TAKANINI GALLOPS
LOVAALS DEFEATS PROUD FOX
An excellent cfTort over five furlongs by Lord Chancellor and Representative, and a decisive defeat of Proud Fox by Lovaals over seven furlongs were the ieatures of the work on the middle grass track at Tnkanini this morning, the track being heavy and cutting out badly as the work progressed.
Lord Chancellor and Representative were well matched over five furlongs in 1.7 3-5, there being little between them at the end, although Lord Chancellor seemed to have the edge slightly on his companion. They are a pair of greatly improved three-> ear-olds as the result of their Pakuranga outing. Revelling in the conditions, Lovaals proved much too good for Proud Fox over seven furlongs in 1.39 2-.j, Proud Fox apparently being unsuited by the conditions. Beau Vaals and Kentish ran a pleasing half a mile in o4 3-ss, Beau Vaals having the best of matters at the end, while Sleepy Fox's half-mile in 05s, under a good hold, suggested that this gelding will be in the right order early in the season. Route March had hitle difiiculty in disposing of Sou law in 55 3-.)s, Peter Gregor running the same distance in 565.
Other gallops:—Three furlongs: Dash o' Dink and Royal Merit, 42 2-ss; Sir Simon, 4-ls; Yerola, 435. Four furlongs: Pomade and .lefl, 50 2-ss; Foxola and Merry May o/s; Water Vixen and Te Kawiti, 56 3-ss. Five furlongs: Brazen Bold, 1.11. Six furlongs: Indian Princess and Sir Ringl, nii!l ' [- ' --ss. Seven furlongs: Miss Gay, 1.41; Ascot Bloom, 1.43 easily.
