HOSPITAL SALARIES
A number of applications from members of the staff for increase of salary were dealt with by the Hospital Board last night, when recommendations by the finance committee were considered. Most of the applications were declined pending reconsideration at the end of the financial >ear. Mr. J. V. Macky, chairman of the finance committee, said it was the board s rule to make- salary revisions in March, otherwise the board's estimated expenditure would be affected. The rule, however, could not be adhered to in a hard and fast manner.
After some discussion in open meeting the board agreed to two immediate increases, the salary of the lady superintendent being increased to £500, and that of the assistant tuberculosis medical officer to £750.
