Axis Troop Plane Shot Down Into Sea

The Admiralty states that in the Central Mediterranean a submarine sank a medium-sized enemy supply ship which had been bombed and stopped by R.A.F. aircraft. The submarine attacked and a tremendous explosion followed. The ship sank immediately. The Cairo communique says: Our patrol activity was continued on Saturday night. Yesterday there was nothing to report from our land forces. Our fighter-bombers continued to attack enemy transports. Some indecisive air combats developed. Our heavy bombers carried out a mccessful dusk attack on Tobruk harbour installations. An enemy transport aircraft was shot down by our long-range fighters near Derna. At least one enemy bomber was destroyed by our night fighters when a small raid was attempted over our base and landing grounds las.. ni The transport plane referred to in communique was, according to ter Cairo message, a threeen. ! Italian machine laden with Within seconds of the moment when it began slitheung toward the sea men started to pour from it. When the Allied fights left the scene the survivors w ®re swimming in the water round the sinking aircraft. . TTnitPd A message from Cairo says United States Army medium bombers operated over the battle area in brilUant moonlight on Saturday night and bombed enemy workshops. Medium and heavy bombers of the K.a.i* . attacked bases, dumps and communications in the enemy's rear.
