CLUBS AND SOCIETIES
Penwomen's Club.—An address on "Some Literature of the Present War" was given by Mr. D. H. Faigan at the Penwomen's Club, the authors dealt with including Douglas Reid, Neville Shute, Clare Booth, John Guntlier. Somerset Maugham, Ethel Vance and Philip Gibbs. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Una Craig, Mrs. C. D. McLean, presided. A current events discussion was held, Miss Irene Rutherford presiding. At the literature study circle meeting an address on the "20th Century Novel" was given by Mrs. Una Craig.
Women's League—The monthly meeting of the Women's League British Israel World Federation Auckland branch, was held in the British Israel reading room 456 Queen Street. Mrs. Cranston presided. A message of congratulation was sent to Mrs. Blomfield, a member who recently celebrated her 90th birthday.
