PIONEER'S DEATH
MR. HEBER CAULDWELL
The death has occurred in Auckland, in his 83rd year, of Mr. Heber Cauldwell, one of the early pioneers. Born in Surrey, England, and completing his education at Culham College, he was brought up to agriculture. - He arrived in Lyttelton by the ship Durham in 1880 and settled in Te Aroha West in the same year. He farmed successfully and retired to Auckland 35 years ago. For many years Mr. Cauldwell was a member of the Te Aroha West school committee, and occupied the position of chairman for some considerable time. He was always closely connected with church work, and after his retirement to Auckland, served on the vestry, and also acted as vicar's warden at Sr. Columbia until the year 1927, when he changed his residence to the parish of the Church of the Holv Sepulchre. In this parish he acted as vicar's warden for. many years, and was a member of the choir for nearly 35 years. He was also a member of the Auckland Choral Society for over 30 years. During his life in N.Z., he made two trips to the Old Country. He leaves a wife, three sons and a daughter.
