GIRL SENT TO BORSTAL
Anita Margaret Vermeulen, aged 18, a waitress, in the Police Court to-day pleaded guilty to a charge of being an idle and disorderly oerson with insufficient lawful means of support.
Sub-Inspector Macnamara said accused was admitted to probation April 30 last on a similar charge. On May 6 she was married to a Dutch seaman, but a week later her husband went away. Since then accused had been living with her mother. She admitted that she had been leading an immoral life. "It would only be a farce to extend probation again to one who has been shown leniency," said Mr. J. H. Luxford, S.M. Vermeulen was ordered to be detained in a Borstal institution for 18 monthai
