J The United States Navy Department announces that the whole crew ! of 39 was saved after a medium-sized 1 American freighter was torpedoed in the Atlantic several hundred miles from the South American coast la-t month. The survivors spent six days in lifeboats until they were picked up by a United Nations vessel \vhi< j brought them to a port on the east ! coast of the United States.
