German Precautions In France

And Holland DEMAND FOR EXPIfo'SIVES Rec. noon. LONDON, August 17. All German civilians and officials in France are compelled to undergo a minimum of a fortnight's special military training in barracks as a precaution against the opening of a second front, declared Mr. Bernard S. Townroe, secretary cf the United Associations of Great Britain and France. They will find a German home guard within the hordes of the German officials who have descended on France.

The Moscow Tass agency reports that the Germans have ordered Creural Christiansen, Nazi military commander in Holland, to transfer the headquarters of the occupation forces in Holland from The Hague to an undisclosed place near the eastern frontier of Holland.

The Germans say that the necessary industrial alcohol must be produced in France even if it means the complete suppression of wine production.
