SUPPLIES OF CABLE

POWER BOARD'S PROBLEM

Difficulty in connection with getting supplies of cable were referred to' oy the geperal manager. Mr. R. H. Bartley, at a meeting of the Auckland Electric Power Board yesterday afternoon. He said that they did not know how long the position would last, and it was a serious one for the board's consumers. The board had a large amount of cable on order, and it was possible that some of it had been taken over by the Government. The chairman, Mr. S. J. Harbutt. said there was a war on, and remarked on the great amount of work being done in Great Britain. Mr. H. T. Goldie said that some of the cable was ordered before the war. Mr. Harbutt replied that the trouble had been that they were unabie to get it.
