WEEK OPENS BRIGHTLY

With a good turnover and values which were mostly steady to firmer, the week opened brightly on the Auckland Stock Exchange to-day. In the financial group a strong demand was maintained, and National Banks of New Zealand sold at £2 0/6, a rise of 6d. Goldsbrough Mort had their first local business since November at £1 5/6, showing a fall of 2/3. Claude Neons made a good advance and Farmers' Tradings were sought at 2d above the last sale price. Gilt-edged stocks were very firmly held, a feature being a rise of 15/ in the old War Loan to £91 7/6, a new peak.
