WOMEN AND SLACKS
Re Mrs. Dreaver's suggestion that the women conductors be attired in slacks, is it not an offence for men to don women's clothes, so why is it not an offence for women to don men's clothes? Both look equally ridiculous in garbs of the opposite sex. Only the very young and the very slim can afford to be seen in slacks. We know women have to do men's jobs in wartime, but must they lose their femininity in so doing? I see no such necessity. Maj - be Mrs. Dreaver has been associated on organisations and boards with men too long. Women in engineering would have to wear slacks at their work, but they do have the sense to change before they come out to parade the streets. I trust Mr. Ford will stand firm and see that the women conductors remain in the uniform he chose for them.
A WOMAN.
