LEAGUE DECIDES ON THIRD ROUND
At last night's meeting of the Auckland Rugby League, it was decided to play a full third round in the championship and to award a special trophy for that portion of the senior competition. It was further agreed to donate as the special trophy £10 worth of war bonds to the team obtaining most championship points in the third round, the points scored to go toward the final championship. The Roope Rooster is to be played as a knock-out competition as in past years. The question of the payment of gate percentages to clubs, in accordance with past years, caused a wide difference of opinion, and the whole matter of allocation for the remainder of the season was referred to the treasurer for a report. Saturday's senior fixtures:—• Richmond v. Newton - Mount Albert, Carlaw Park No. 1, 3 p.m., Mr. J. O'Shaughnessy; City - Otahuhu v. North Shore - Marist, Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.45 p.m., Mr. J. Donovan; Ponsonby v. Manukau, Carlaw Park No. 2, 3 p.m., Mr. C. Day.
