The Mount Eden Borough Council at a special meeting last night, decided to increase rates by 3d, bringing up the consolidated rate for the current year from 3/11 to 4/2 in the £. It was stated that the increase was for the purpose of meeting the higher E.P.S. and hospital levies. The council decided that a rebate of 2i per cent would be given for prompt payment within a month.
