CANTEEN FOR SOLDIERS
NJE. WOMAN'S WEEKLY
A roadside canteen has recently been started by a group of Auckland women, and here refreshments are provided free of charge to soldiers. It is only a little over three months since the canteen was first organised, yet already well over 11,000 men have been served. This week's issue of the N.Z. Woman's Weekly contains an article about the canteen, accompanied with photographs. New Zealanders who have friends or relations at present in Syria will be particularly interested in the long letter from a N.Z.E.F. man now serving in that country. The letter is written to his wife, and contains a detailed description of his experiences in Syria. The magazine contains the latest gossip from Hollywood, air mail news from London, and timely suggestions for renovating frocks. In addition to these articles there are the popular regular features and two delightful complete stories. Readers again have five smart free patterns from which they may make their choice.
