SOCCER CONTESTS

The feature of the main attraction, between North Shore and Eastern Suburbs, was the form shown by the Shore vanguard. Ably led by Richards, the line combined in splendid fashion and swung the ball about in fine style, whilst some excellent shooting was seen by the inside men. Espie converted a centre nicely to get Suburbs' first goal, whilst Ray Welch scored the second with a good drive. Collinge, Suburbs' inside left, has a fine turn of speed, and is a deadly shot, but he is inclined to roam a little. Cowie, the cricket and Soccer representative, turned out at left back for Suburbs and played a good game, although the nippy Shore attack was too fast for him in the closing stages.
