ARMY BISCUITS

BYCBOFT'S BUSY YEAB "We have had the most extraordinary year 1n the company s history," said Mr. Geo. R. Hutchinson. chairman of directors, at the annual meeting ot Bycrolt, Limited, to-day "We have been working three shifts of 24 hours a day on Government orders, and we have received another contract which will extend, to far as is known, until December. Unfortunately these contracts have prevented us from giving supplies of biscuits to the public of the Auckland province In particular and of New Zealand In general. Mr. Hutchinson said a very large portion of the company's output was now going to the army, and there was an increasing demand from them for larger quantities. The company was manufacturing five or six varieties of plain biscuits Instead of a normal peace-time output of 56 different tyres, the latter now being regarded as unessential to the war effort. The quantities made were larger than those of any other company In the Dominion. Resolutions of thanks and confidence in the directors, manager and staff were passed and it waa resolved that the directors be voted an additional £200 in fees In view of their extra responsibility associated with war contracts. The ; retiring director, Mr. Josiah Lawry, was reelected.
