CHURCH FULL
NOONDAY CONGREGATION
The old catch-cry, "The churches are empty," is no longer true, in this, the third year of the war. This was exemplified yesterday, when St Patrick's Cathedral was filled to overflowing during a lunch-hour celebration of Mass in commemoration of the feast of the Ascension of Jesus Christ. There had also been good congregations at hourly celebrations since 6 a.m. Prayers in English after each Mass, were said for thp intentions of the Pope, now celebrating his episcopal jubilee—those intentions being a speedy peace, based on justice and moderation.
