League Team Merger Scheme Not To Be Changed
A letter was received last evening by the Auckland Rugby League board of control from the Mount Albert Club asking for reconsideration of the amalgamation scheme. The board decided to reply that the decision cannot be changed. The commandant of a military camp wrote statins that trainees were not prevented from playing for their respective clubs when their leave turn came round. However, acting on Army Headquarters instruct ions, leave was onlv granted on Saturdays up to 25 per "cent of the strength of each unit. The letter added: "It would be grossly unfair if trainees were granted leave each Saturday at the expense of another member of the unit." The letter was rereived. Messrs. A. .T. McGregor. A. Cloke and S. Prentice were appointed senior selectors. Nominations were received for 3fi schoolboy teams and four seven-a-sidc teams. Forty-eight footballs Mere presented to the schoolboy committee. The question of a senior reserve grade competition was deferred for another week. It was decided that the senior competition be of three rounds, the board holding the right to curtail it if necessary. Mr. T. Carey was appointed the iunior representative on the referees' appointment committee. Saturday's senior contests are as follows: Richmond v. Ponsonbv, Carlaw Park No. 1. " p.m.. Air. G. Kelly; Citv-Otahuhu v. Xn\i ton-Mount Albert. Carlaw Park No. 1, 1.4.1 p.m., Mr. S. Hillnian: North ShoreMarist v. Manukau. Carlaw Park No. 2, 3 p.m., Mr. J. Hawkes.
