LIBERTY LOAN
RESERVE BANK REPORT
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday
The Reserve Bank reports that the Liberty Loan is being well received throughout New Zealand. In the first two days the subscriptions were not large, but there was a noticeably large number of applications for amounts of £10 and £20. There was also every indication that the larger institutions were standing firmly behind the loan. . . The Dunedin Savings Bank had subscribed £50,000, ana the Government Insurance Department £150,000, with the possibility of more to follow. Many others had promised substantial amounts within the next few days, including the Invercargill Savings Bank, £100,000. The total amount subscribed in the first two days was:—l 947 stock, £144.950: 1952:55 stock, £547,850; total, £692,800; amounts promised, £505,000; total, £1,197,800.
