NEW LIBERTY LOAN
AUCKLAND SUBSCRIPTION'S
Steady support for the new £15.000,000 Liberty Loan for war purposes is forthcoming in Auckland, and among the latest subscriptions are £200,000 from the Aucklands Savings Bank and £100,000 from the New Zealand Insurance Company.
It was stated to-day that a substantial amount will be taken up by the South British Insurance Company, while local bodies who will consider the extent of their support in the near future include the Auckland Harbour Board and the Auckland Klectric Power Board.
Sharebrokers report fairly steady inquiry among their clients, arid one of the largest individual investments in the new loan was for over £t>ooo. Subscriptions for smaller sums ranging from £10 upwards are coming forward freely, a satisfactory feature being the fact that many are fully paid.
Experience in the past suggests that there will be a last-minute rush to take up stock, and the public fs urged to avoid this as much as possible by subscribing without delay. The lists close on .Tune 2.
Within the next fortnight the campaign will be intensified with parades and other means of attracting attention to the cause. Thirty-two national savings committees throughout the Auckland district will be co-operating with the Reserve Bank officials to ensure that the loan will be oversubscribed by a large amount.
