ORIGIN OF ARMADILLO
Armadillo is really a Spanish word, and means the little armed one, a reference to its hard shell, which is like a coat of armour worn by a soldier of the days when armadillos were first found. The Spaniards first brought home armadillos from South America, and so the name spread to other countries.
