"We must increase our air force."said King Ferdindad, of Fairyland. "It is really serious, the dwarfs have twice as many as we have, and are building them as fast as they can. Order five thousand aeroplanes to be made at oncc. We must protect ourselves. If we are not careful we shall have the dwarfs invading Fairyland." "Please, daddy, may I speak to you," said Princess Drucella, his beautiful daughter. "You know, darldy," she said when they were alone, "we do not stand a chance against the dwarfs; their king. King Tweedle, will soon overpower us. Hecate, the witch, who helps them, has already shown them how to make bombs which would blow up Fairyland. Couldn't I go and make friends with King Tweed ler "That I would never allow," said King Ferdindad. "You would be in danger of your life." But Princess Drucella was so persistent that at. length her father allowed her to visit Rambokl. the fairy magician. "You can go quite safely to King Tweedle," he said, "provided you follow out my instructions." "Go into the depths of tl.e wood and you will find a cottage in which lives a youth named Stoutheart; he is a son of a woodcutter. Take him with you: you will ride through the air on my mapic swan: I will give Stoutheart some polden dust, to throw in Hecate's eyes, and then the rest, will be easy." "Thank you." said Princess T>rucella. She we*nt to the wood and found Stoutheart, and off they rone on the magic, swan. They came to the kingdom of the dwarfs, and there was Hecate. Stoutheart threw the mapic powder in her eyes, and she Immediately went off into a deep sleep, a sleep which would last for a hundred years, and when she awoke all her power of magic would be gone. They saw King Tweedle of the dwarfs, and Princess Drucella put out her hand to shake hands with him. Directly she touched his hanrl the dwarf vanished, and a fair-haired young man immediately appeared. "I am Prince Rock of the Sea." he said. "My father is Kinp Neptune. X was bewitched by a wicked witch called Hecate, but you have broken the spell, fair Princess." Directly Hecate had fallen into her deep sleep all the dwarfs suffered the same fate, and all their power was pone. "I never wanted to invade Fairyland," said Prince Rock, "but I had absolutely no power." So Prince Rock and Princess Drucella were married, and what rejoicings there were.
