FOUGHT OFF U-BOATS

The British liner Ceramic, 18,000 tons, carrying 360 passengers, from Liverpool to South Africa, arrived at Rio de Janiero, in a damaged condition, after fighting off several submarines in a 45-day zig-zag voyage. The passengers believe the ship's guns destroyed at least one submarine.
