HELD AT TOKYO
AL CKLANDER INTERNED
Advice has been received from the Prime Minister by Mrs. G. LennoxKing, of 4, Komaru Road, Remuera, that her son, Mr. Gilbert T. LennoxKing, has been interned in Tokyo. Mr. King was educated at Christ's College, and had served with the South British Insurance Company for a number of years, being stationed in both Auckland and India during his career. At the time of Japan's entry into the war. he was acting-manager for the branch of the company in Tokyo. The manager, Mr. R. A. Cox, was on furlough in the United States.
When last in Auckland, about a year ago, Mr. King married Miss B. Farrer, of Hamilton, who accompanied him on his return to Japan. They reached Honolulu, but owing to bad food conditions in Japan it was decided that Mrs. King should return to New Zealand.
Mr. Lennox-King had made application to his company for permission to enlist in the New Zealand fighting forces as recently as last November, just a few weeks before thp. outbreak of war with Japan.
