KEEP HOUSES CLEAR
INFLAMMABLE RUBBISH FIRE CHIEF'S WARNING (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Superintendents of fire services from all parts of the Dominion and the Dominion fire controller conferred under the chairmanship of Mr. S. S. Dean, chairman of the Wellington Fire Board, and discussed questions of organisation to meet emergency conditions. Recommendations are to go forward to the Government and the authorities concerned. The resolutions include one that it be made clear that all previous instructions for dealing with, incendiary bombs be cancelled, and that all films not approved in the light of the new instructions be recalled. It was further resolved that a memorandum be sent out containing a recommendation advising the public that any type of garden spray or stirrup pump which will throw a continuous stream of water may be utilised in conjunction with buckets or other water containers. A general instruction will be issued that in view of the severe action of incendiary bombs on collections of rubbish or similar inflammable material, instruction be given to the public that all such collections, particularly in attics, roof areas or other floors, should be. cleared immediately and that strict housekeeping in; regard to this matter be observed, '
