EVELYN FIRTH HOME

NOT TO CLOSE DOWN

(0.C.) WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Defence, , Mr. Jones, states that the Evelyn Firth Home will not be closed down. Arrangements have been made through the National Patriotic Fund Board for the continued administration of the home by the Auckland provincial committee of the Joint Council of the Order of St. John and the Red Cross Society for reception of sick and wounded ex-servicemen of the present war.

Mr. Jones expressed the Government's appreciation of the manner in which the joint council had administered the home in the interests of invalided soldiers of the last war and its ready co-operation in making its organisation available to control the home in the interests of the sick and wounded ex-servicemen from the present war.
