WITH HARD LABOUR
SENTENCE ON PACIFIST
Arrested at the Domain yesterday afternoon on a charge of wilfully obstructing Inspector J. Sweeney, a plasterer named John Robert Hamerton, aged appeared in the Police Court this morning before Mr. F. H Leyien, S.M.
Hamerton, who conducted his own case, pleaded not guilty. Accused said he was a local preacher of the Methodist Church of New Zealand and a member of the Christian Pacifists' Society.
Hamerton was sentenced to three months' imprisonment with hard labour.
