BAN ON TRAVEL
RESORTS AFFECTED HOLIDAY REVENUE FALLS Holiday resorts have been considerably affected by the travel ban of 100 miles on the railways. One of the towns most affected is Rotorua, which has been largely dependent on long-distance holidaymakers, but a number of other holiday centres are also likely to be affected by the changed conditions. In the case of Auckland hotels, a number of holiday bookings have been cancelled, but over the Christmas and New Year period, there is likely to be a considerable number of visitors from places within a hundred miles of the city. Apart from railway travel, the restrictions on the consumption of petrol will also adversely affect travel. It is certain that a large number of people will cancel motoring holidays, which had been planned. There are a number of motor camps within easy reach by rail or bus, and people who cannot use their cars, may still be able to choose and take advantage of a motor camp for their holidays.
