TEST TO-MORROW
EMERGENCY PLANS
APPEAL FOR CO-OPERATION
At a time which is being kept secret the warning signals will sound to-morrow, and there will be an emergency test of the entire Emergency Precautions Service. The Chief Warden. Mr. J. A. C. Allum,,has appealed for the full cooperation of the public. He said that at whatever time the warning came some people would be inconvenienced, but the public had to remember that the test had to be made to find out the weak spots in the organisation, which had the responsibility of providing for the safety of the citizens and their property. Mr. Allum added that when the warning signals were sounded every member of the E.P.S. would have to attempt to reach his or her post as quickly as possible, and the general public would be asked to obey willingly the directions of the personnel of the service. During an emergency or during a state of emergency all persons, except members of the E.P.S., would be required to remain wherever they might be until the "all clear" signal was sounded, or orders were received from the E.P.S. The only exception was, that during an emergency or state of emergency in working hours, persons in the inner city area, other than members of the E.P.S., would go as quickly as possible to their dispersal areas in accordance with instructions already given. Mr. Allum pointed out that there were many aged people, invalids, and women whose husbands were in the armed forces, who would need assistance in time of trouble. He appealed to all citizens to show the utmost neighbourliness and give all possible assistance to less fortunate people.
