CITY POWER FAILURE
Due, it is understood, to gorse fires near Arapuni, several power interruptions in Auckland city and suburbs caused dislocation in various industries during the afternoon. The first failure occurred shortly after 12 30 and lasted for a period of five minutes. Other failures have occurred during the afternoon, but they were only of short duration.
As a result of the failure, the Star's first edition was late in going to press. Up to 2.30 no information was available concerning the exact cause of the faults.
