IMAGINATION
(By Thelma Beaver, 16, Eltnam Road, Kohimarama.) Imagination, we can find, Makes charming pictures in our mind. When we imagine things a lot
We think ourselves what we are not. It really is a marvellous thing When you can be a queen or king, A soldier who is strong and brave, A sailor who can ride the wave. Perhaps an aeroplane you'll fly And go into the cloudy sky O'er jungles that are dark and deep, Where unknown cities lie asleep, And underneath the weedy ground An ancient treasure might be found Of sparkling jewels and glittering gems In coronets and diadems. Some of the things that we can see In our short lives we'll never be. We must not make a cry or fuss, As God did mean them not for us. Though people laugh with scorn for you, Just grit your teeth and fight it through, And make your childhood dream come true.
