ALLIED PAGEANT
HAPPINESS CLUB Before a packed house for the third time, the Auckland Happiness Club presented its Allied Pageant last evening and Tuesday evening in the Town Hall. Proceeds are in aid of local charities for Christmas cheer. Visitors came from as far as Dargaville and Hamilton to see the performance, which was outstanding not only for its presentation, but for its magnificent costumes. Fourteen Allied countries were represented. As a special Christmas feature, Miss Joan Sutherland, the director, had chosen the Manger Scene, and this was portrayed in an inspiring manner. Miss June Barson sang beautifully as an angel, while the Happiness Club choir of 200 voices rendered "O Come All Ye Faithful " as small children brought flowers and laid them at the feet of the Christ child.
From the proceeds of the previous performance, the sum of £280 was raised for Christmas parcels for the boys overseas.
