AUCKLAND BOY
AFRICAN APPOINTMENT
Advice has been received by Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Davison, Church Road, Mangere Bridge, that their son, Mr. Laurie A. Davison, has been appointed a political officer in Ethiopia under the Occupied Enemy Territories Administration, with the rank of lieutenant. Lieutenant Davison, an Auckland member of the Sudan Interior Mission, is commandant of the repatriation camp at Addis Ababa. Mr. Davison entered the Bible Training Institute, Auckland, at the age of 19, with the intention of becoming a missionary. Two years later he took up work in Ethiopia and in the course of six or seven years obtained an intimate knowledge of the country and its people. He was married at Addis Ababa to Miss Lily Middleton, another exstudent at the institute. When the war broke out Mr. and Mrs. Davison were on furlough in Britain. They returned to New Zealand and then undertook mission work in the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan. While on leave at Khartoum, the headquarters of the mission, Mr. Davison received his present appointment and was given leave of absence to take it up Mrs. Davison and little daughter are at Melut, Upper Nile Province.
