STATE CONTROL
SHALE OIL COMPANY ACTION IN AUSTRALIA (Rec. 11 a.m.) CANBERRA, this day. The Federal Cabinet has decided to assume control of the National Oil Proprietary, Limited. The company is operating the Glen Davis shale oil project. Cabinet's decision followed recommendations by the Minister of Supply, Mr. Beasley, who stated in the House of Representatives on October 29 that the output from Glen Davis was proving most unsatisfactory. Two of the present directors of the company are to be retired, and there are to be three directors representing the Commonwealth Government and one representative of the State Government on the board of six A Commonwealth officer will take control of and check the financial affairs of the company.
